Welcome to Messiah CRC

We woud love to have you join us here at Messiah!

 Welcome!

Church isn’t an event to attend – it’s a place to belong. It doesn’t matter where you are on your spiritual journey, whether you’re unfamiliar with Christianity, or were raised in the church, you are welcome here. Come, learn about God’s grace, and grow in His truths.

Sometimes it’s hard to try something new if you don’t know what to expect. Here’s some information that will help answer some of your questions. If you have any other questions feel free to contact us. We hope to see you soon!

From Our Pastor

One of my greatest delights with Messiah CRC is the multigenerational worship. Whatever generation you are a part of, we desire and plan on you being able to connect with God and with others here.  God has given us a mission to help all know that they belong, are able to grow, and have opportunities to serve while reflecting the love of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

If you aren’t finding answers to your questions on our website, feel free to call (616-669-9091) or email me (pastornate.messiahcrc@gmail.com).

Sincerely,

Pastor Nate

Frequently Asked Questions

What is worship like?

Our services are a mix of traditional & contemporary. We sing both traditional hymns and contemporary songs, often with a praise team.  We spend time in prayer and learning from the Bible.  An offering is taken, but it is for our members & regular attendees; please do not feel obligated to give.

I have children. How does worship work for us?

Children are always welcome to join their parents during worship. However, we also have a well-staffed Nursery available downstairs. For kids 4 years-Kindergarten during the school year there is an opportunity during the service for them to go downstairs for Children’s Worship before the sermon begins.

I have a disability. Can I still participate in worship?

We have an elevator directly inside the covered entrance that goes both upstairs and to the basement. Also, there is an indoor ramp that goes up from the gym entrance on the back (south) side of the church. Accessible bathrooms are on all floors. Sensory bags with headphones are available outside the sanctuary, near the stairs to the gym.

How should we dress for worship?

You should wear whatever you are comfortable with. Some people at Messiah wear suits & dresses, many wear business casual and others wear jeans & t-shirts. We welcome anyone who comes to worship, regardless of dress.

During Communion what should I do?

To all who have professed Jesus as their Savior and Lord, we extend the invitation to participate. When the elements are passed, the juice will come first, then the bread. You may choose to set your juice down in the communion cup holders while receiving the bread. All the bread used is gluten-free.

Do we need to give an offering? How does that work?

An offering is taken, but it is for our members & regular attendees; please do not feel obligated to give.

Where should I park? How do I get to the worship area?

We have a large parking lot with many handicapped spots.  The main entrance (A) has a covered portico for easy dropoff. There is also valet parking available at that door.  The other main entrance is near the gym in the rear (south) of the church.  You can take the handicap-accessible ramp up to the sanctuary from here.

Do I have to be a Christian or not have any doubts about my Christianity to come?

No.  Messiah is a place to learn and grow in Christ.  It is a place for non-believers and believers to come and learn together, experiencing the hope & joy that God offers.  If you have questions about Christianity please feel free to contact us online as well.  We also recommend the audio series, “Questioning Christianity” by Tim Keller.

How can I learn more about the beliefs & values of Messiah and the Christian Reformed Church?
