Student Ministries

Messiah has many opportunities for students to grow their faith while having fun belonging to the church.

Sunday School for 1st-8th grade meets after the morning service until 11:45am, September-March.  The high school students meet together with the Adult Sunday School classes. Our goal is to partner with parents in helping students discover who God is, what He has done for them, and their place in His kingdom.

This group for 6-8th graders uses fun and fellowship to help students grow closer to each other, our adult leaders, and Jesus.  We get together on 1st & 3rd Sundays, after the evening service, to share a meal, lesson & to just have fun!  We also have other great events & opportunities to serve throughout the year.  Check out our upcoming events or request more information.

Messiah’s Youth Group is a place where high school students can build relationships, share experiences, ask questions, and grow in their walk with God. Join us to learn about God’s grace and have lots of fun!  We meet 2nd & 4th Sundays after the evening service and have many other events throughout the year.  Check out our upcoming events or request more information.

Cadets, a program similar to Boy Scouts, is based on Luke 2:52 “Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.” The goal is for Christian men to mentor boys to help them grow spiritually in all areas of life including devotional, mental, physical, and social.  Boys in grades 4-8 have a great time doing devotions, badges, building things, serving their community, and just hanging out together!  They meet every Monday night from 6:30-8:30pm during the school year.

G.E.M.S. (Girls Everywhere Meeting the Savior) is a place where girls can come to connect with other girls and learn more about our Savior and how to live for Him. We do Bible lessons, crafts, service projects, and more fun stuff!  Girls grades 1st-5th meet together Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00 pm. There is also a special program, GEMS Girls Ignited, for 6th-8th-grade girls.

Students in Ignite, STROnG, Cadets & GEMS, and any friends they invite to special events are asked to fill out a Participation Waiver once a year.

Youth Director

I have been at Messiah since 2010 and involved in Youth Ministry for over 2 decades total. Middle School and High School students are my primary focus at church (home too as I have several of my own kids in those ages currently!). We have meetings, events, and trips for both ages that range from entry-level activities to focused discipleship. I want all of our students to grow in the daily spiritual/life habits and practices that feed a life-long relationship with Christ and His Church.

We would love to have your students check out our ministries! Please feel free to email me with any questions you might have concerning youth group.

My wife, Rebecca, and I have 4 children at home and live right in Hudsonville. Besides church work and life, I love playing and teaching others to play all sorts of games – especially card and board games. My favorite color is orange, I prefer instrumental music (especially video game soundtracks) to podcasts and I almost always think a Google Sheet could make any situation better. I have an active and growing faith and have really enjoyed an increase in my prayer walk with Christ over the past couple of years especially; this was a spiritual discipline I hadn’t found tons of joy in previously. God’s Word is a daily focus for me and right now I am working through M’Cheyne’s Bible Reading Plan which has solo and family readings each day.
